IMPORTED FROM BLOG.COM
I've talked about you finding YOUR Motivator.
Now, I have MINE!
For weeks I have been preaching to you to about finding something to help motivate you. Something or someone that will help motivate you to lose weight, get in shape and even get you through a workout. It's the main reason I came up with The Chippewa Valley Challenge, to give people a motivator so they have that little extra push to get started and hopefully finish strong.
For the last 8 months, my motivation was to lose weight and get back in shape. Along the way, I have developed much better eating habits, a dedicated workout schedule and a body I am beginning to feel pretty good about. So now, I need to give myself a little extra motivation and a goal to shoot for in 2012. That motivator has popped up, and I am going to go for it. There is a local bodybuilding/fitness competition at the end of March, and a couple of the trainers at the gym suggested that I try for this show. After some deliberations and talking with another trainer today, we believe that I could take my training to another level. We will see what my body does with it. (Hopefully it doesn't kill me, but if it does, at least I should look good in my casket! LOL) And by the middle of March, I will be able to make the determination as to whether to compete.
What teenage boy doesn't dream about having the body of Arnold Schwarzenegger...
...and flexing in front of a mirror with a muscular body and six pack abs? I certainly did! (And trust me, I did NOT look good or anything like Arnold.) Now that I am almost 50, I have the chance to finally have a body that looks good, and after almost 40 years be proud of how I look. So the heck with it, I am going to commit to this and hopefully my body will do what I need it to do. If it doesn't and I fail...that's ok, because I will be in even better shape than I am right now, and I will hit my goal weight of 205 lbs by April 1, 2012. That means I will have lost 100 pounds in a year. That's something I can also be proud of.
Over these next couple of weeks, I will share with you my progress, struggles and accomplishments as I prepare for the competition. It should prove to be interesting. :)
The Chippewa Valley Challenge
I have received quite a few emails and Facebook messages about the Challenge, so I thought I would share a few with you right now because maybe you have the same questions.
Do I need to belong to a gym to compete in the Challenge?
NO, you do not need to be a member of any gym. But you will have to weigh in a one of the Participating Locations. Most of the gyms will be offering specials during the beginning of the year, so it would be a great time to join.
When are the weigh ins and do I need to call?
YES and YES. The weigh-ins are January 9, 10, and 11. Starting January 5, you may call to schedule a weigh-in appointment. Please DO NOT call before January 5. There also will be a time frame in which you will have to show up or else you will lose that time slot to weigh in. This Challenge will fill up fast. There are only 50 slots per Participating Location (as a whole).
Do I need a personal trainer?
NO, but I will say if you are in need of some extra help, or are really serious about doing things right, a trainer would not be a bad investment. But it is not necessary.
How many tickets do I get if I complete the Challenge?
Each person receives one ticket; the over all winner receives two tickets with the Country Jam Package. (The Prize package is still being put together, but from what I've seen...it's gonna be AWESOME!) Remember the prizes are nice, but it's the health rewards you are really after. :) (I stole that from a friend of mine who messaged me today about the Challenge.)
How much weight do I have to lose, and when does it end?
First thing I tell people is to check the website, all the information you need is there! TheChippewaValleyChallenge.com. But here it is again. January 9, 2012 - April 30, 2012 you need to lose 10% of your starting body weight in order to continue on in the Challenge. From May 1, 2012 - July 16, 2012 you need to maintaining your weight or continue to lose to qualify for the free ticket and the grand prize.
These are most of the questions I receive about the Challenge. If you have a question about the Challenge, please feel free to ask me.
Keep checking this blog for some specials from the Participating Locations and extras if you sign up for a membership. All you will have to do is mention you heard about it on "I AM AN OVER EATER!!" I am going to post them here on Friday's post.
Have a wonderful day, and keep spreading the word about what we are doing here. PLEASE...if you enjoy what I have put on here, please just hit LIKE or share it with friends on Facebook. It's just wonderful how many messages I personally get, but it would make the blog grow even bigger if readers would share it or even just hit LIKE.
Thanks again and I'll see you tomorrow! :)
