Day 19: Body Transformation Phase 2 - Let's talk about loose skin, my favorite subject...NOT!

IMPORTED FROM BLOG.COM

So Phase 2 has been going very well, but "Houston, we have a PROBLEM!"

So Phase 2 has been going just fine, and I can see that my waist line is getting a little smaller every day. I am starting to see some more size in my chest, shoulders and arms. But I will share with you a problem that I have been fighting for a while now...
loose skin and stretch marks. And yes, men can have this problem as well. Not to mention being older like I am does not help the matter at all.

Remember, I have lost over 90 pounds in 9 months, so my skin has been stretched out for quite a while, not to mention I'm 49 years old.

This normally would not be too big of a problem except in a little over two months I'm going to try and be on stage with only a pair of swim trunks on! AHHHH! HELP!

So what am I doing about this problem?

Here's what I've been doing to try and solve this stretchy problem. For the past few weeks at the gym I have been wearing neoprene sleeves around my waist and chest during my early morning cardio workouts. This is a great way to concentrate and focus on those problem areas and to help reduce, sweat and tighten up in areas that aren't playing well with others. When you see me come out of the Cardio Cinema after 45 minutes on the elliptical I am covered in sweat, and with the bands on I REALLY sweat up a storm. Around my waist on both sides of my belly button are two real problems (aesthetic problems), the skin is not tightening up as fast as I need it to. But with the bands on during my workouts, my abs are starting to become flatter and those two areas are definitely tightening up.

One more thing I am doing to try and help this situation...try NOT to be grossed out by this one!

Ok...here it goes. I am also wearing a neoprene sleeve to bed at night, but right before I put the sleeve on I am also applying...wait for it...try not to throw up...I am putting on Preparation H. Yep...the same stuff you put on your hemorrhoids! Just think Beauty Queens use it under there eyes...it tightens the skin and that's what I'm trying to do as well. My old skin has lost it's elasticity so I need to try and tighten it up again, without having surgery. Because let's face it, this is just vanity at this point. I'm feeling extremely healthy. I'm in shape. I feel great. And I'm looking better than I have in a long time. But I know there are a lot of you out there that have had this same problem or will have this same problem. I think it needs to be discussed. Ladies, after you have a baby or babies, we men know you don't like the fact you may have a few stretch marks....guess what...honestly, we don't care that you have them...WE STILL LOVE YOU
! But we also know that you don't like having them. And hopefully, no real man would ever mention anything about them to you. But what can we do about these ugly little bastards? Lubrication...and lots of it.

There are obviously many products out there that will help with this situation...so what do we do?

I have now told you what I'm trying for the next few months. I am also using lotion to try and keep my skin as moisturized as I can, it doesn't help that it's winter and 10 below zero! I love Wisconsin winters...NOT! So I am now looking to you, my readers, to let hear some of your ideas on how I can get rid of stretched out skin and stretch marks. I would love to see what you've done or are doing to try to fix this problem.
Today's Workouts and Diet:
I did 7 1/2 miles in 50 minutes on the elliptical this morning while watching one of my favorite movies, TRUE LIES...awesome movie! I also did 800 ab reps.

I had my normal breakfast and snacks in the morning.

My afternoon workout focused on the CHEST today. I hit it really hard. I did 4 to 5 sets on each workout, with sets from 15 reps to exhaustion. It felt really good after I was done, really pushed myself today.

I had a good lunch of chicken and veggies, except I didn't have time for my two extra snacks today.

I had an early supper with the family. I made grilled chicken breast with a candy garlic sauce, garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli and cauliflower. My daughter said, "Dad, this is the most juicy and tender and delicious chicken I've ever eaten." My son totally agreed with her. That made me feel really good inside. :)

Well I hope you can find what I wrote about today helpful, and I look forward to hearing from you about your thoughts on helping to get rid of these problems.

I also hope you enjoyed my earlier post today about naked old ladies in the locker room...it's obvious by the number of hits we've had today that someone out there likes it. LOL :)

We have also posted the list of Participants for JAM in to a Healthier You! - The Chippewa Valley Challenge. So check it out, and let us know if you don't see your name on there, we may be missing some information from your gym.

As you can tell it's been a VERY busy day. I will see you all at the gym!
