Hello again,
Well let's see...we've talked about Emotional eating before, Happy/Sad eating.
Now let's talk about something that up until yesterday I didn't realize I was a major addict of....Nervous Eating!!
Yesterday, while watching the football games, I made a couple of pizzas for myself and the family.( medium thin crust pepperoni) Had 3 slices of that and then I had a yogurt and then I got out the Natural White Cheddar Cheetos, some grapes and some cashews... And by the time the 4th Qtr rolled around it hit me...I had been eating and snacking the entire game! UGH!!! WHY?!?
As I look back on other times I watch sports especially if it's the team I am cheering for I find I need to eat. In the past if we go and watch a game out at a restaurant or bar, what's the first or second thing we do? We order drinks and then order food. One of my favorite places to go is BWW (Buffalo Wild Wings), and when I think about what I order when we watch a game it's 12+ boneless wings, some fries or onion rings and for me enough soda that I should have a catheter put in me so I don't have to go to the bathroom every 10 mins.
And yesterday, while what I was eating wasn't quite as bad as 12 wings, it was still eating for 3 Hours!!
The Good News/Bad News in this particular case is:
Good News- I recognized what I was doing, stopped the behavior and now will try and change that habit. I also went to the gym after the game and worked out for an 1 1/2hrs to try and burn off all the extra calories i consumed in 3hrs.
Bad News- I ATE FOR 3 STRAIGHT HOURS!!! And I like to eat while I'm watching a game! :(
Is this only a guy thing? Is it something women do as well? I'm sure we all do some form of Nervous Eating, but when I think about watching sports I tend to think of guys eating wings, popcorn, peanuts, hot dogs, nachos, or consuming massive amounts of beer....you get my point. Please let me know if women have this same type of problem.
What do we do to correct this habit? Well now that I realize what I'm doing, maybe the idea is either to not put out food or make it so easy to get at throughout an entire game. Maybe, I put out a nice veggie tray of healthy non-fatty types of snacks to consume. Or maybe....I just don't watch sports anymore on TV. NOT!! :) Another solution might be, I just need to Reframe my emotions for eating into something healthier for myself....what that might be, I'm not quite sure as of yet. :)
Well if you have any suggestions please let me know what they are, because I think I MIGHT NEED HELP WITH THIS ONE. Please share your comments, stories, recipes and suggestions.
Thanks again for reading, please share with someone you know, friends, family or someone you think might benefit from what we have going on here. Have a wonderful day, I look forward to reading your comments and suggestions.

TIP OF THE DAY!!
Do your Cardio in the morning before you eat anything!
If you are trying to lose weight or even maintain your weight one of the VERY BEST Tips I have been given is to do some Cardio in the morning before you eat anything.
I get up and go to the gym, get on the elliptical machine and do 30+mins pretty much every morning before I eat (or drink my protein shake)
It does a couple of things for you...It gets your metabolism started, it wakes you up and you start to burn calories right away to start the day. I truly believe that by making this small change in my workout routine it helped me lose and continue to lose over 80 pounds in the last 7 months. I have made this suggestion to a number of people and they ALL have said it has made a huge impact in their losing weight.
Try it...what do you have to lose?!? :)
